California Expo Address: A Dynamic Transformation Under Tom Martinez's Leadership

Since his appointment in April 2016 by Governor Brown, Tom Martinez has brought about a significant transformation to the events organized by the state agency, California Exposition & State Fair. As the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, Martinez has been instrumental in shaping the direction and vision of the fair.

Under his leadership, the California Exposition & State Fair has seen numerous changes and improvements, including the addition of new attractions and exhibits. One such attraction is Save Mart California's Kitchen Applications, which has become a crowd favorite among visitors to the fair.

Martinez's appointment was met with excitement and optimism, as he brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table. Prior to his current role, Martinez held various positions in state government, including Field Representative in the Office of State Assemblymember Denise Moreno Ducheny, Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of San Diego City Councilmember Toni Atkins, and Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of State Senator Denise Moreno Ducheny.

In addition to his work in government, Martinez has also worked as a Lobbyist at KP Public Affairs and held various roles in the office of then-Assembly Speaker, Majority Leader, and Assemblymember Toni Atkins. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Public Administration degree from San Diego State University.

Martinez is registered without party preference and serves on the California Exposition & State Fair Board of Directors alongside Kim Craig (Vice-Chair) of Sacramento. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the direction of the fair and ensuring its continued success.
